The Annual Conference of the IDRiM Society was opened on October 28th, 2015 by the Indian Minsitry of Home Affairs. This year's conference is dedicated to the topic of “Disaster Risk Reduction – Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Growth”. The DRU is presenting within the conceptual framework of “Cultures of Catastrophe” and, in discussing the budding results from the theoretical concept, is joined by researching colleagues from India, Japan, Nepal and other countries.
The Ministry of External Affairs praised the contributions of the various conference goers regarding the reduction of disaster risks and subsequently held a dinner for all in the Taj Mahal Hotel. In the upcoming week, the DRU will take place in discussions with GIZ, ADG, and the TERI Institute.
