Raffaele Gallo works as a teacher and as a freelance photographer. He has taught courses in Semiotics and Photographic technique, Contemporary narrative photography, New media and photography, Digital storytelling and has lectured in Film semiotics, Anthropological cinema and on McLuhan's theories. He is currently doing research in the fields of Semiotics, Visual and Media Anthropology and Anthropology of Disaster. Raffaele Gallo started to work as documentary photographer after he graduated in anthropology at the University of Perugia in 2006. In 2007 he won a merit scholarship to attend the Master Program in Photography and Visual Design at NABA School of Fine Arts and FORMA International Centre for Photography in Milan.In 2012 he completed the Master Program in Visual and Media Anthropology at the Freie Universtitaet Berlin. He collaborated with different NGOs and institutions: in 2006 he worked in Kosovo; in 2007 in Lima, Peru; in 2009 in Salento, Italy; in 2010 in Democratic Republic of the Congo and in Rwanda. His pictures have been published as features on several news magazines. His works have been exposed at FORMA in Milan, at Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, at GAMEC (Modern Art Gallery) in Bergamo, at Spazio Terra in Perugia, at the Goethe-Institut in Rome and at the Platform for Abstract Photography in Berlin.
