The aim of this unit is to expand research and teaching at the institute in the area of media and popular culture studies. A special focus is on aspects of diversity and gender.
Guided by a cultural studies approach, research projects examine the relationship between media, the public sphere and diversity in the context of intensifying globalization and digitalization.
These topics are also implemented in seminars on topics such as the representation of Others, media and diversity or the participatory potential of recent media innovations. Students are especially encouraged to critically interrogate if and how the media encourage cultural diversity, stipulate tolerance or support international understanding.
The position is funded by BCP, a program by the Berlin state government for the promotion of equal opportunities for women in research and teaching.
