Admission Requirements

The master’s program Media and Political Communication is geared towards B.A. graduates of media and communication studies or related social sciences.

Application requirements are:

When applying, students need to prepare sufficient proof that both requirements are met (Transcript of Records). In case student’s bachelor’s degrees do not have informed ties to the field of media and communication studies, students will not meet the application requirements and an application for the master’s program Media and Political Communication will not be successful. There are NO exceptions from this rule.

Language Requirements

The master’s program Media and Political Communication requires a high level of proficiency in German as well as good English language skills. Proof of these skills must be provided as part of the application.

Proof of German Language Skills

German skills are an essential precondition for studying Media and Political Communication as most of the study units of the master’s program are taught in German. Only few courses (about 25%) are held in English. All applicants must submit proof of German language skills with their application. To apply at Freie Universität Berlin a Mittelstufe II or a TestDaF (German as a Foreign Language) certificate is required which displays the grade of at least 3 for all four parts of the examination. Proof of English Language Skills

The master’s program Media and Political Communication requires English language skills on level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
