"Ex-combatants' organisations in Colombia: the unusual peacebuilder?"

Katrin Planta has been working since 2009 as project manager in the area of non-state armed groups, negotiation and transformation processes and security transitions at the Berghof Foundation in Berlin. Before joining Berghof, she worked for the German civil peace service in Bolivia. Since 2010, she has been a PhD candidate at the Free University. In her dissertation, she investigates the contribution of ex-combatants’ organisations to peacebuilding in Colombia. The qualitative study is based on six months of field research with former militants of different armed groups and members of ex-combatants initiatives.

Katrin Planta has studied political science and communication science at Westfälische Wilhelms Universität Münster and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Lille/France (2002-2006) and holds a MA in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford/UK (2007/2008).
