As a research associate at the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Politics, Christoph König is responsible for the development of project proposals for funding applications. He studied political sciences at the Freie Universität Berlin, and worked as an intern at the Center for Strategic Studies of the University of Jordan in Amman and the regional office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. His general research interests are theoretical and empirical debates in international peace and conflict studies, and inner-state conflicts and non-state violent actors and actresses in particular. At the center, he is primarily concerned with the dynamics of protest and repression in the context of authoritarian regime structures as well as practices of nonviolent protest and the transformation of authoritarian rule. Additionally, in former projects he worked on environmental and geostrategic issues in the MENA.
