Korbinian Bauer is studying his Masters in Political Science at the Freie Universität Berlin. His research project within the "FFU/TERI Climate Change Dialogue - Graduate Students Exchange Program" will focus on the securitisation of climate change in India.
His research project explores whether climate change has been successfully portrayed as a security threat in India – and the political consequences of such a securitisation. The research will try to uncover why some climate security narratives are dominant and others marginalized in the Indian context. Therefore, he will identify the most relevant actors involved in the Indian climate security debate and analyze their arguments, as well as their suggested countermeasures against the threat of climate change. The research will include conducting interviews with experts from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the government, universities and think tanks.
