Grady Mathai-Jackson is a Visiting Researcher at the FFU from September-December 2017.  He is a Lecturer on energy law at the University of California - Berkeley School of Law and is an affiliate of the Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment based at the U.C. Berkeley School of Law.  His legal practice, teaching, and research focus on renewable energy.  Most recently, Grady taught a simulation-based class on Renewable Energy Law and Policy that focused on the various legal methods through which the procurement of renewable energy has been promoted in California, U.S.A.

Grady's research at the FFU is focused on a comparative legal analysis regarding the integration of renewable energy into the electric grid in Germany and California.  Grady will consult with other researchers at the FFU and at other institutions to assess whether the energy policy goals and contexts in the two jurisdictions are similar enough to allow legal frameworks developed in Germany and the EU to inform California law and policy.
