Barbara Burkel is currently enrolled in the joint Master’s program Environmental Policy and Planning at the Free University and the Technical University of Berlin, where she is focusing on climate and energy policy. She completed her Bachelor’s in Urban Planning at the Hafencity University Hamburg in 2013.
She has worked as a student assistant for the KlimaCampus at the University of Hamburg. Additionally, she has completed internships at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy in Hamburg, with the development and environmental organization Germanwatch, and in the environmental planning office of the eco-city Auroville in India.
Since May 2015, Barbara has been working as a student assistant at the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU), where she supports the project Helmholtz Alliance ENERGY-TRANS - Governance of the transition of the german energy system.
