Rainer Quitzow and Holger Bär (both Environmental Policy Research Centre, Freie Universität Berlin) will present findings from a research project on lead market strategies for the promotion of environmental innovations in Europe and the BRICS countries. Drawing on two case studies on solar photovoltaics and electric vehicles, they will discuss the respective roles of Germany and China in shaping global developments in these sectors. Both countries are major players on the global stage – both as producers as well as markets for these tehnologies. The talk will outline the key differences in political strategies pursued in both countries and discuss their implications for innovation and industrial development. On this basis, possible policy implications for Germany will be explored.
Please note that this Berlin Sustainability Talk will a) be conducted in German and b) not be held at the FU Berlin, but will be part of the event series “Effizienzlounge” in the Effienzienzhaus Plus mit Elektromobilität in Fasanenstraße 87a, 10623 Berlin.
