• Born 1971
• 1994-2004 Studied Anthropology, Sociology, and Sports Science at University of Goettingen
• 2004-2005 Fellow with stipend of the Reserach Group "Emotions as bio-cultural Processes" at the Center for Interdisciplinary Reserach (ZiF), Bielefeld University.
• 2006-2009 Research Associate in the Reserach Group Sociology and Psychology of Movement, Sports, and Dance (Prof. Dr. Gabriele Klein), Faculty of Education, Psychology, and Human Movement, University of Hamburg.
• since 2009 Reserach Associate at the Cluster of Excellence "Languages of Emotion", Freie Universität Berlin

PhD project

My doctoral thesis "Embodying community - Ritual, emotion, and the semantics of the nation" (working title) explores the conditions and mechanisms of constructing, actualizing, and modifying the emotional, cognitive, and semantic structures of national identity. Empirically, I analyze TV pre-game reports of matches of the German national team during the FIFA Worldcup 2006 using methods of discourse and video analysis.
