Master’s Programme in Public Policy and Management (German / French)

The internationally structured Master´s programme Public Policy & Management is offered by the Ecole des Hautes Commerciales (HEC) and the Otto-Suhr-Institute of Political Science (standard length of study: 4 semesters). This programme is a German / French double degree Master’s.

Object of the Programme

In comparison to the purely national programmes, students experience a markedly international context as well as broadening their horizons through the complementary nature of two programmes which differ in focus – more application and professionally oriented at the HEC Paris and more oriented towards research at the Freie Universität Berlin. This complimentary nature of the two partner institutions makes it possible to gain a new and interdisciplinary vision of public management, while offering an approach to understanding the globalised world, opening new perspectives to the student for their professional career. Students are thus prepared for a career in industrial or political administration and qualify simultaneously for post-graduate studies in the area of politics or economics.

The German / French double Master’s programme “Public Policy and Management” combines in a unique way economic, political and administrative study content. Within a space of two years the students graduate in two Master’s programmes, the economics and application oriented Master of Science in Management of the HEC and the political and administrative science and research oriented Master of Arts in the subject “Public Policy and Management” of the Freie Universität Berlin. The programme is based on the complementary nature of the programmes at both institutions and the mutual recognition of study and examination achievements.
