Current Research Project
Alina Kokoschka received her PhD in Islamic Studies. With her dissertation „Commodity World Islam - Consumption Culture and Commodity Aesthetics in Contemporary Syria“, she examined the aesthetic language of Islamization in Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon in the first decade of this century [see http://www.bgsmcs.fu-berlin.de/people/students/students_2010/Alina_Kokoschka.html]. Her research focus is on Muslim cultures and societies in the Middle East and Europe. Her approach is strongly influenced by her studies in philosophy and visual anthropology. Field research and digital archives enter into a dialogue with documentary works.
