The AGYA is a project of the "Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities" and the "Arab World Academy of Young Scientists".
The main objective of the AGYA is to advance the academic exchange of young researchers from Germany and the Arab countries.
The AGYA aims to establish a community of outstanding Arab and German researchers, who are at an early stage of their academic careers, and support joint innovative projects in various fields of research, science policy, and education across different disciplines in Sciences and Humanities. Members of the AGYA will meet regularly (at least once a year) to develop and implement joint research initiatives and to enhance research cooperation between scholars from Germany and the Arab countries.
In its founding year 2013, Prof. Dr. Carola Richter has been elected as one of 50 members for a 5-year-membership term. The members who come from various disciplines and countries such as Sudan, Algeria, Saudi-Arabia, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon since then met in several meetings in Arab countries and Germany. Carola Richter is a member in charge of the AGYA Working Group “Transformation” which will publish a collective volume on the shifts of scholarship after the Arab uprisings entitled “Academia in Transformation”.
