In his talk, Prof. Dr. Bamyeh presents the key findings of the Arab Social Science Monitor (ASSM) report authored collaboratively by a team of social scientists based in the Arab World, Europe, and the US. The report focuses on the question of “presence”: where are the social sciences to be found in the Arab World? To that end, the report identifies three spheres of such presence: universities, research in-stitutes, and the public sphere. The report is designed to present original data on all spheres, as well as qualitative analyses of some of the most positive trends.
