The research area "Gender I Body I Sexualities" is part of several larger networks and international collaborations.

It is closely connected to the German Anthropological Association's working group "Gender & Sexualities | Queer Anthropology," which was founded during the DGSKA conference in Constance in 2019. Today, the working group has more than 90 members and provides a platform to discuss research and issues of gender and sexualities on the blog AnthroDesires - gender and sexualities in context.

In Berlin, the reseach area is connected to and collaborates with the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at the Free University of Berlin and with the Laboratory GenderQueerEthno (GQE) at the Humboldt University Berlin.

Another important network for our members is the ENQA, the European Network for Queer Anthropology within the European Association of Social Anthropologists.

At the Institute, a series of conferences, events and research-focused seminars is envisaged to strengthen the field of gender, body and sexualities within and beyond (German-speaking) Social and Cultural Anthropology. Check our News & Events for updates.
