A workshop on “Cooperation at the Border - Conditions, Potentials and Challenges of Cooperation in Border Area in the Refugee Crisis” took place from January 30th to 31st, 2020 at the Disaster Research Unit (DRU) of the Freie Universität Berlin. Around 25 participants from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief, the Austrian and Bavarian Red Cross, the Federal Office for Goods Transport, the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, the Ministry of the Interior of the state Schleswig-Holstein, various DRK regional associations and the Federal Office of Migration and Refugees discussed together with the project partners the challenges in southern Germany (border region Germany-Austria) and norther Germany (Germany-Denmark, or Germany-Sweden). The very heterogeneous ways of coping and dealing with situation 2015/16, which was also due to the regional situation (refugee influx and outflux), were documented.
