Trinity College Dublin (TCD) explores heterogeneous data definitions and the terms we use when we speak about data. The Dutch Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS) examines why cultural heritage data stored in archives, museums, and libraries can be seen as ‘hidden’. The Latvian machine translation company TILDE uses the example of translations to analyze the extent to which cultural data are ambiguous, polysemic, and often contradictory, and it explores the systemic limitations of their representation.
