Research Project „Translocal Networks: Public Sphere in the Social Web” is Part of Wissensstadt Berlin 2021
News from Jul 05, 2021
Global digital communication? Under this title, the research project “Translocal Networks” presents their findings on spatial structures of digital public spheres as part of “Wissensstadt Berlin 2021”, an event portraying science and research “made in Berlin”. The project team around Barbara Pfetsch and Annie Waldherr analyzed Twitter spheres in Berlin and Jerusalem. They found: Communication on digital platforms is both rooted locally and exceeds city borders with translocal connections. Visitors of the presentation can explore the research themselves with a (digital) interactive test: Playfully, visitors can find out whether they are local or cosmopolitan communicators.
“Wissensstadt Berlin 2021” provides unique insights into research and science. Current projects on health, climate, and community will be presented in an open-air exhibit in front of the “Rotes Rathaus”. Access to the exhibit is free of charge and it can be visited all day from June 26 until August 22, 2021.
