On February 26, 2020 and at the invitation of the Embassy of New Zealand in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Emmer participated in a roundtable discussion with the New Zealand Minister of Justice, Andrew Little, on the topic “Hate Speech, Hate-motivated Crime and Combat of Extremism”. Due to the terrorist attack in Christchurch on March 15, 2019, New Zealand has started an international initiative for the combat of hate and extremism, called Christchurch Call (https://www.christchurchcall.com/call.html). Together with Minister Little and other participants, Prof. Emmer discussed latest research findings of the NOHATE project of the Division Media Use and opportunities of politics, justice and civil society to confront hate and extremism.
