The international workshop “(De)legitimized Wealth: Inquiries in Times of Social, Democratic and Climate Crises”was held at Freie Universität Berlin on October 8–9, 2025. Organized by the research project “The Deserving Rich – an Analysis of the (Re)production of Wealth”, it brought together 17 scholars from various disciplines to discuss the representation and justification of wealth. Participants examined narratives that legitimize or delegitimize wealth and debated how wealth is represented in the media and politics.

The project “The Deserving Rich” is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. Project members are Prof. Dr. Stefan Gosepath, Prof. Dr. Philipp Lepenies, Prof. Dr. Christian Neuhäuser, Dr. Martyna Linartas, Laura Opolka, and Isabella Pfusterer.
