From 02. To 04.05.2014 the Evangelische Akademie Loccum (Protestant Academy Loccum) organized a conference on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) with the title “Swap more exports for less consumer protection – About the arrangements of TTIP”.
News from May 21, 2014
One of the questions discussed at the meeting was whether the TTIP offers the industry representatives on both sides of the Atlantic privileged influence on the regulation plans and therefore might cause a vanishing of environmental, social and consumer standards.
In this context, Klaus Jacob gave a presentation on the monitoring of standards, considering policy assessment. He focused on the questions, supervision should be developed within the framework of TTIP, and where these supervision stands in relation to the institutions of democratic opinion-forming, as well as how environmental aspects are taken into consideration.
