As part of the German-Ukrainian cooperation, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety has initiated, identified and developed a consultation processes in the course of operational projects in the non-nuclear field.
During the year 2000, a selection of more than 10 projects was identified and a screening process came under scrootiny in which their suitability for the German-Ukrainian cooperation was documented and tested.

The next step was to make a selection of suitable and promising projects from this list and detailed preparations were being pushed forward to make the financing and implementation possible.
In addition, the responsible bodies have been identified on the English and German sides who are capable to take on and carry out such projects.
