In the winter semester 2025/2026, Prof. Dr. Kathrin Ganz is a visiting professor for gender and diversity research at the Otto Suhr Institute of Freie Universität Berlin.

Her research focuses on intersectional relations power and inequality in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as on open access, and open science in gender studies. This includes work on discourses on artificial intelligence, gender, and work, on the digital civil rights movement from an intersectional perspective, and on feminist internet policy. Currently, she is working on digital sovereignty in scientific publishing and the conditions under which researchers work with digital infrastructures.

At the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, she coordinates the Specialized Information Service Gender Studies. She also heads the editorial team of the Open Gender Journal and is involved in the open science community, including the IG Weiterentwicklung des wissenschaftlichen Publizierens (Working Group on the Further Development of Scientific Publishing) of the Allianz focus “Digitality in Science.”
