While focusing on external policy mandates, the datasets capture external and internal policy mandates of RIOs and allow researchers to examine how these competencies have evolved over time. ROCO 2.0 builds on earlier ROCO databases that have been developed as part of the research project “Towards an Increasing Regionalization of International Politics? Comparing the Development of External and Internal Competencies of Regional Organizations over Time”, which was funded by the Fritz-Thyssen-Foundation. Version 2.0 was implemented with funding from the German Research Council as part of the research project “Overlapping Regionalism in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe Compared”.
