Prof. Dr. Eckart D. Stratenschulte works as a consultant and teaches political science at Freie Universität Berlin.

He studied sociology, political science and German studies and graduated with a diploma in sociology, the first state examination for the teaching profession (political science and German studies) and a doctorate in philosophy. In 2005, Freie Universität Berlin, where he has been teaching since 1999, appointed him honorary professor in political science. Until the discontinuation of the program in 2020, he also served for many years as a lecturer in the Master's program European Studies at the three major universities in Berlin.

From 1978 to 1989, Eckart Stratenschulte was deputy director and, from 1982, director of the Institut für intereuopäische Studien, before joining the Senate Chancellery of the Governing Mayor of Berlin as head of department.

From 1993 to 2017, he was the director of the European Academy Berlin. In 2018 and 2019, he served as Executive Director of the German National Foundation, and in 2020 he coordinated the European youth education and encounter project Peace Line for the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge.

Eckart Stratenschulte has published several books and numerous articles, mainly on European topics, and has been a member of the European Commission's Team Europe Direct speaker service for many years.
