Current research project
“Politische Bildung mit allen” - a project in cooperation with the Berlin State Center for Political Education
The project “Politische Bildung mit allen” aims to further develop cooperation between schools with a focus on special educational needs and partners in extracurricular political youth education in order to strengthen their collaboration. The project builds on the observation that schools utilise the funds provided by the programme ‘Political Education at Berlin Schools’ in a highly unequal manner. It aims to make better use of these resources for pupils at schools with a focus on special educational needs and to better support these schools.
Based on a human rights-based concept of inclusion, the project seeks to promote civic education programmes in the sense of a joint project that centres on the needs and requirements of those involved. In the first phase, the specific requirements of schools with a special educational focus are identified and model ideas for programmes are developed on this basis. In the trial phase, as many different co-operation projects as possible are carried out at the schools. Finally, the projects are assessed in an evaluation and transfer phase. The results are then systematised and prepared for publication.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Berlin State Center for Political Education and the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family. The Center for Political Didactics and Political Education runs the project under the leadership of Joanna Bedersdorfer and the scientific supervision of Hagen Schmitz. The Federal Agency for Civic Education is providing the funding.
