Joint statement on discussion about Renewable Energies Act

In cooperation with numerous researches of renowned institutes, Klaus Jacob published an expert’s statement on the impacts of the Renewable Energies Act (EEG).

The statement was written at the initiative of the FhG ISI as well as Rainer Walz. It contributes to the current discussion on the innovation impacts of the EEG and is based on a bundling of numerous publications over years of research on the environmental and innovation impacts of the EEG. The expert panel concludes that the EEG has, indeed, been a driver of innovation, and it has a bolstering effect on the renewal of energy systems. Hereby, the results of the Expert Commission on Research and Innovation of the Federal Government, which contested these impacts in its latest report, are put into question. The statement’s authors consist of researchers of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and the Copernicus Institute of the University of Utrecht.
