June 2016: 4th TERI Summer Class at FFU

News from Jun 14, 2016

 June 20th – July 1st, 2016

The M.A. in Public Policy and Sustainable Development offered by the TERI University, New Delhi, is a tailor-made program for mid-career civil servants and executives from the corporate and not for profit sectors. The two-year programme is sponsored by the Government of India. The first year of the programme includes a set of core and elective courses at the TERI University with a brief term of six weeks in the summer semester at reputed universities abroad.

From June 20th – July 1st, 201, 15 mid-career civil servants of Government of India and two sponsored candidates from other sectors will participate in a two weeks summer class at the FFU. The exposure visit in Germany would help the participants in understanding the policy making processes in the context of a developed country. The selection of a European country has the additional advantage of understanding the impact of regional policies in the formulation of domestic polices and strategies. The thrust given to sustainable development and the significant strides made in the field of renewable energy makes Germany an interesting case study for students interested in sustainable development from a public policy perspective.

The teaching programme in Berlin covers the following areas:

Environmental and Climate Policy, Cities and Local Climate Policy, Governance for Sustainable Development in the EU, Integrating Environment and Sustainability, Sustainable Economic Growth, Ecological Modernization and Innovation, Industrial Policy, Innovation and Technology Transfer.

In addition to numerous talks with FFU-members lectures of external experts as well as visits of governmental institutions and NGOs in Berlin and Potsdam will take place. Site visits to the state of Brandenburg are arranged to supplement the classroom discussions.
