Leonard Frank was a research fellow in the Policy Assessment group of the FFU from June to December 2019. His focus is on Governance approaches to sustainability transformations in German and European agriculture and energy policy.

Leonard completed a Masters of Science in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance at the University of Oxford and a Masters Degree in Political Science at the Freie Universität Berlin. He had previously studied Political Science and Economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Lille. For his Masters thesis in Oxford he studied the participation of farmers in Norwegian agricultural governance. In Berlin he wrote his second thesis on German and British policy strategies for the decarbonization of the heating sector from a transformative energy policy perspective.

Before his employment at the FFU, Leonard studied at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam. He brings additional work experience from his time in a sustainability consulting firm, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, and in the office of a member of the Bundestag.
