Anja Köhne has obtained a Master of Arts Honours Degree (1st Class) at the University of Dundee. Her subjects were Contemporary European Studies and English and Scottish Literature. The first half of her studies at the University of Cologne focussed on English Literature, national economics and history. She currently works on her PhD-Thesis on the topic of environmental policy integration in EU foreign policy. Her 15 years of professional experience were spent, among others, at the Institute for European Environmental Policy, at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Energy & the Environment, at the EU-Coordination of the German League for Nature and Environment, and at the Heinrich Böll Foundation. As a political consultant, she currently works, among others, for the German Environmental Ministry, for WWF and Greenpeace. Her current honorary functions are the board of the Institute for Applied Ecology (Öko-Institut, www.oeko.de) as well as the board of the development and environment NGO Germanwatch (www.germanwatch.org); in the latter function, she cooperates with Worldwatch Institute in the US.
