Dr. Jan Rosenow

Research Associate

Jan Rosenow is a consultant and researcher with more than nine years of experience in energy and climate policy. He is a Senior Consultant with Ricardo-AEA, an internationally-renowned environmental consultancy. Their Energy & Climate Change Practice is one of the world’s leading providers of carbon and energy consultancy with more than 150 specialist consultants including national and international experts in climate change policy, energy efficiency, adaptation, low carbon technologies, carbon management, emissions trading and greenhouse gas inventories. 

Prior to his work at Ricardo-AEA, Jan was a self-employed consultant running his own business, JR Energy Consulting. He also worked as a researcher for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as a consultant in the London Office of SKM Enviros, and for the German Öko-Institut and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy.

In addition to his consultancy work Jan also has a track record in energy research - his work has been published in leading journals such as Energy Policy, Energy EfficiencyEnergy & Environment and Energy & Buildings. Jan is a Visiting Research Associate at the Lower Carbon Futures Group of Oxford University'sworld-renowned Environmental Change Institute and an Associate Lecturer on the MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Policy at the School of Geography, Oxford University.

Jan regularly presents on invitation at international conferences and has been interviewed by the New York TimesBBC Radio 4The GuardianUtility Week and the German newspaper Die Zeit. He also gave evidence to the House of Commons' Energy and Climate Change Committee and government officials. Jan is a member of the Think Tank 30 - a network of young people under the roof of the German Chapter of the Club of Rome and the Atlantic Council's Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network.

Jan has a PhD in Energy Policy from Oxford University. He earned two further postgraduate degrees including an MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics. Throughout his studies Jan won various scholarships and awards from organisations such as the UK Energy Research Centre, the Heinrich Böll FoundationMcKinsey & Company, the London School of Economics, and theGerman Academic Exchange Service.
