The research unit Empirical Methods uses cutting-edge research methods to better understand some of the main issues in society and politics today. We believe in methodological pluralism and are interested in how various quantitative approaches, particularly causal inference and experimental methods, text analysis, machine learning or structural equation modeling can help us get a better grasp of fundamental changes in and challenges to contemporary democracies such as populism, the role of social media in politics, and political representation."
