Media - Means and Mediators for Adolescents' Views on Ethical, Legal and Social Implications of Modern Medicine and Biotechnology
Prof. Dr. Bernd Schorb (University of Leipzig, Department of Communication and Media Sciences)
The project - led by Prof. Dr. Bernd Schorb at the Chair for Media Education at the University of Leipzig - aims to include adolescents into societal discourses on biotechnology, in this case on genetic testing. Girls and boys are encouraged to inform themselves about the topic, getting support by experts if necessary, and shall develop and articulate their own opinions about the topic via media products (movies, websites etc.). In a participatory "Jugendkonferenz", they will present and discuss their views to experts and decision makers. The Chair of Macrosociology at the Free University of Berlin provides knowledge about ethical, legal and social implications surrounding genetic testing. Furthermore, it cooperates with the Leipzig project team in conceptualising and realising the evaluation of the project.
01.08.2005 - 31.07.2006
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in its research program "Research on ethical, legal and social implication of modern biological sciences".
