New Colleagues at the KFG

The Kolleg-Forschergruppe (KFG) "The Transformative Power of Europe" would like to extend a warm welcome to its new members, who will be joining us for the current winter semester here in Berlin. Our team of fellows this year will be complemented by researchers from Canada, England, Ghana, Italy, the Netherlands and South Korea among many others. Our new KFG fellows Emanuel Adler, Tonia Bieber, Oheneba Boateng, Inken von Borzyskowski, Amanda Clayton, Maria Debre, Jason H. Han, Miguel Haubrich, Merran Hulse, Alessandra Russo and Edward Stoddard introduce themselves on our webpage.
Senior Scholars
Prof. Emanuel Adler is the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Chair of Israeli Studies and Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and of the European Academy of Sciences, Honorary Professor at the University of Copenhagen, and former editor of International Organization. His current research project at the KFG is "Cognitive Evolution: Change and Stability of International Social Orders".
Post-doctoral Fellows
Dr. Tonia Bieber is an Associated Junior Fellow at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg and holds a PhD in Political Sciences from the University of Bremen and Jacobs University Bremen. Her current research project at the KFG is "Beyond Europe: Global Diffusion of an Education Policy Model? Comparing the Reactions of the Asia-Pacific, Latin American and African Regions to the European Bologna Reform".
Dr. Inken von Borzyskowski is Assistant Professor in Political Science at the Florida State University and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her current research project at the KFG is "The Relative Efficacy of Sanction Types".
Dr. Amanda Clayton is a Research Fellow at the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Washington. Her current research project at the KFG is "Comparative Regional Patterns in Electoral Gender Quota Adoption: A Social Network Approach".
Dr. Edward Stoddard is a Lecturer in International Relations and Contemporary Security at the University of Portsmouth and holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Portsmouth as well. His current research project at the KFG is "Blocking and Managing Ideational Diffusion: Comparing Protective Regionalism and the Politics of Diffusion Management".
Oheneba Boateng holds a M.A. in Globalization Studies from the McMaster University and a M.A. in Modern Global History from the University of Bremen. His current dissertation project at the KFG is "The Poor Donors: History and Theory of African Humanitarian Practice".
Maria Debre holds a M.A. in Political Science from the University of Potsdam. Her current dissertation project at the KFG is "The Club of Arab Monarchies – Ensuring the Survival of Authoritarian Rule through Diffusion and Regional Integration in the Gulf Cooperation Council".
Jason H. Han holds a MPA from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at the Indiana University Bloomington. His current dissertation project at the KFG is "Will East Asian Security Integration Be Possible? Causes of Regional Security Integration: Lessons from European Experience".
Miguel Haubrich studied Political Science, Economic Policy and Current and Modern History at the University of Freiburg. His current dissertation project at the KFG is "The EU as a region-builder beyond its borders? - An analysis of the EU’s promotion of regional cooperation in the Western Balkans and Mercosur".
Merran Hulse is a PhD student in International Relation at the Radboud University Nijmegen. Her current dissertation project is "Actorness and effectiveness of African, Caribbean and Pacific regional organizations in interregional trade negotiations".
Alessandra Russo holds a Master Degree in International Relations and European Studies from the University of Florence and has been a Visiting PhD Student at the University of Oxford, Centre for Social Sciences in Tbilisi and American University of Central Asia in Bishkek. Her current dissertation project is "Interdependence and Transition: Kaleidoscopic Configurations in the Post-Soviet Region".
