Dear friends and colleagues of the Kolleg-Forschergruppe,

Welcome to our autumn (and nearly christmas) newsletter edition!

The winter term has started and we would like to keep you informed about what is happening at the KFG. As you may know, the end of the KFG is drawing closer. Over the next two years, the project will still continue operating but in a much smaller format than what you are used to. The two of us will not be in Berlin this term, and there is neither a new cohort of postdocs nor of PhDs. The best news upfront: Two of our great senior scholars, Detlef Jahn and Eva Heidbreder, have volunteered to carry on the weekly Jour Fixe meetings. Thank you both for the initiative!

Over the summer and in the last months we again organized a series of events. In this newsletter edition, you find reports about the workshop “International Relations 2030” co-organized with the University of Wyoming and former KFG visiting fellow Jean A. Garrison. KFG was also represented at the Three-Countries-Conference in Heidelberg “Regionalism in a World without Borders”, and hosted the authors’ workshop “European Integration Theories” together with Antje Wiener.

Furthermore, we are delighted to announce that the next stop of our roadshow for the Oxford Handbook of Comparative Regionalism took place. The conference on “Comparative Regionalism: State of the Art and Future directions” was held at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in early November.

And we are looking forward to a workshop on regional sanctions to be organized by KFG Associate Fellow Elin Hellquist in April 2017, which you are invited to join.

Finally, some KFG alumni from last year share with you their impressions from their work at our institute. Also, you will find an overview of the latest working papers published in our series.

Even though we will be on sabbatical during the upcoming academic year, we will stay in touch with you and keep you informed about KFG activities.

We already would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Best regards,

Tanja A. Börzel, Thomas Risse & the KFG Team
