In der vergangenen Woche fanden Gespräche zwischen unserer Hochschulleitung und dem Dekanat unseres Fachbereichs statt, in denen es auch um die vorgeschlagene Streichung der dritten Strukturprofessur am Institut für Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie ging. Wir haben nun Grund zur Hoffnung, dass diese Professur strukturell erhalten bleiben kann.

Das freut uns riesig und wir bedanken uns ganz herzlich bei allen Studierenden, Kolleg*innen sowie bei unserem Dekanat für ihren Einsatz und die große Unterstützung in diesem schwierigen Prozess. Auch sind wir dankbar für die große Solidarität, die wir von Kolleg*innen und Einrichtungen aus Deutschland und international in der schwierigen Phase der letzten Monate erhalten haben.

Die Kürzungsprozesse im Bildungsbereich, an der FU Berlin, am Fachbereich Politik- und Sozialwissenschaften sowie an unserem Institut sind leider noch lange nicht abgeschlossen. Dennoch gehen wir nun mit neuem Elan und Zuversicht ins Wintersemester!

Hope for the 3rd Professorship at IfSCA

Last week, discussions took place between our university leadership and the dean’s office of our department, during which the proposed elimination of the third structural professorship at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology was also addressed. We now have reason to hope that this professorship can be preserved structurally.

We are absolutely delighted and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all students, colleagues, and especially our dean’s office for their commitment and immense support throughout this difficult process. We are also deeply grateful for the solidarity we have received from colleagues and institutions in Germany and internationally during the challenging past months.

Unfortunately, the budget cuts in the education sector—at FU Berlin, within the Department of Political and Social Sciences, and at our institute—are far from over. Nevertheless, we are heading into the winter semester with renewed energy and optimism!
