15. - 16.12.2022 Annual Transdisciplinary Winter School “Culture, Psychology & Qualitative Research

15.12.2022 - 16.12.2022

This two-day Winter School provides an introduction to ethnography in the context of affect and emotion research. It focusses on (emerging) practices of collaborative fieldwork and scrutinizes its potential to advance decolonial practices of knowledge construction.

The Winter School is located broadly in the field of Psychological Anthropology, Cultural Psychology, and Affect Studies and invites PhD/doctoral students to discuss their collaborative methods in the context of fieldwork and ethnography. The Winter School consists of four key note lectures, practical data sessions and individual consultations with the key note speakers and invited guests. We provide the participants with theoretical background knowledge in an online-platform as well as examples of first hands-on practice during the working groups. A general knowledge of qualitative research, ethnography, mixed methods, comparative, or collaborative methods will be helpful but is not required.

The Winter School is part of an institutional collaboration between the working groups of Thomas Stodulka (FU Berlin), Meike Watzlawik (SFU Berlin), Dominik Mihalits (SFU Vienna), and Carolin Demuth (Aalborg University) that intends to establish long-term collaboration between psychology, anthropology, and the humanities. The first conference of the rotating system was held in Aalborg in 2021, and the next winter schools will take place at SFU Vienna (2023) and SFU Berlin (2024).
