Ruhi Demirbay

Arbeitsbereich Politik und Recht

Ruhi Demiray war von Januar bis Dezember 2019 Einstein Junior Scholar am Arbeitsbereich Politik und Recht am Otto-Suhr-Institut für Politikwissenschaft der Freien Universität Berlin. Zuvor war er Philipp Schwarz Fellow der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung an der Universität Siegen, Marie Curie Fellow an der Keele University sowie Fulbright Doktorandenstipendiat an der University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Seine Doktorwürde erhielt er in der Politikwissenschaft an der Middle East Technical University und seitdem arbeitet er zu Rechtsphilosophie und politischer Philosophie. Sein besonderes Interesse gilt der Rechtstheorie, der Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Kants politikrechtlicher Philosophie. Derzeit arbeitet er an einem Forschungsprojekt mit dem Titel "A Comparison Between Kant’s Liberal Republicanism & Arendt’s Civic Republicanism: Rethinking Modern Political Theory in the Face of the Problems of Our Age”. Ziel des Projekts ist eine republikanische Rekonstruktion der Begriffe der Freiheit, der Rechte und des Rechts sowie der Herrschaft in der modernen politischen Theorie, die zu einer besseren Untersuchungsperspektive für gegenwärtige politische Probleme, wie etwa dem Aufstieg populistisch-autokratischer Tendenzen oder den gescheiterten Rechtsansprüchen von Nichtbürgern und Minderheiten, verhilft.
