Jules Ahlin promoviert seit November 2020 zum Einfluss von institutionellen Vermächtnissen auf Demokratisierungsprozesse in Afrika. Jules absolvierte einen Master-Abschluss in Mathematik an der University of Cape Coast in Ghana und einen weiteren Master-Abschluss in angewandter Statistik am Institute for Empirical Research in Political Economy (IERPE) in Benin. Er arbeitet auch als Datenmanager für das Projekt "Do Legislature Enhance Democracy in Africa (DLEDA)", das untersuchen soll, wie die Parlamente in sieben afrikanischen Ländern südlich der Sahara ihre Rolle erfüllen.

Jules Forschungsinteressen liegen im Bereich der Demokratie- und Parlamentsforschung in Subsahara-Afrika mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf Togo. Im Rahmen seiner Promotion und des Forschungsprojekts LISSA arbeitet er an der Erstellung einer Datenbank zu afrikanischer Parlamentsforschung
