bahar firat is a PhD candidate and research associate at the CRC “Affective Societies” at FU Berlin, working on the affective and emotional dynamics of authoritarian transformations in post- 2013 Turkey. She studied sociology, ethnology, and political science at Middle East Technical University, Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, Istanbul Bilgi University and Boğaziçi University. Her research interests revolved around issues of power, class, and identity and their intersections, with a thematic focus on processes of nation building and nationalism, migration and displacement, poverty, discrimination and exclusion, state violence and resistance movements, and a geographical focus on Turkey, Kurdistan and Germany.
