visiting doctoral student (October 1, 2018 - July 31, 2019)
Brian Sanchez is a visiting Sociology doctoral student from the University of California, in Riverside. He earned his Bachelor's in psychology at UCLA. His research interest centers on academic success for students underrepresented in higher education, specifically looking at resilience, or ability to cope with stressors.
He previously won an ERASMUS award to begin a project which sought to make a cross-cultural comparison between American minority students and German minority students. There he worked under the guidance of the Berlin Social Science Center. Now he plans to conduct a follow-up study on resilience in German minority students, which will be sponsored by the Berlin House of Representatives.
