The two-day workshop offered a comprehensive introduction to core methods in qualitative text and discourse analysis — including discourse analysis, thematic analysis, and qualitative content analysis — with a focus on critical reflection and hands-on application. Designed for social science researchers at all levels, the sessions combined theoretical grounding with practical exercises, encouraging participants to develop greater confidence and independence in their research. The final session provided an open, peer-reviewed space for participants to discuss and ask questions about their own projects. Bringing together researchers from across the department, the workshop explored the distinctions between different qualitative approaches to text and discourse analysis, and how each can be applied to address diverse research questions in social science.
