Studying Abroad

A semester abroad adds to studies and broadens your horizon. The Institute for Media and Communication Studies therefore offers possibilities for international students to spend a semester in Berlin and has partnerships with many foreign institutes.

As part of the ERASMUS program the Institute for Media and Communication Studies has 22 partnerships with European universities in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom. These cooperations offer international students the chance to spend an ERASMUS-semester in Berlin. Further information on the ERASMUS program of the Institute is available here.

Through partnerships with the Noah Mozes Department of Communication and Journalism of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University (Washington, DC, USA), and the University of Melbourne (Australia) undergraduate and graduate students and PhD students can spend a semester or research fellowship in Berlin. Detailed descriptions of our partnership programs are available here.

Exchange students are nominated by our partner universities. It is not possible to apply directly to Freie Universität for ERASMUS programs or a direct exchange program. Information for international students who want to make use of other exchange programs to come to Freie Universität is provided here.
