Center for Politics and Law

Tim Wihl was a Gastdozent at the Center for “Politics and Law” of the Otto-Suhr-Institute since October 2018. Previously, from 2009 to 2018, he was a research associate at the Faculty of Law of the Humboldt University in Berlin at the Chair of Public Law, in particular Constitutional Law, and Philosophy of Law with Prof. Dr. Christoph Möllers. In 2013 he was a visiting researcher at the University Paris I – Sorbonne, 2014 Visiting Student Research Collaborator at Princeton University. Between 2014 and 2016 he completed his legal training in Berlin with posts at the Federal Chancellery and at the Institut Michel Villey of the University of Paris II – Panthéon Assas. Since 2017 he worked as a lecturer at the HWR Berlin and at the OSI. In 2018 he was a research associate in the Humboldt Law Clinic for Fundamental and Human Rights at the chair of Prof. Dr. Susanne Baer, HU Berlin.

In 2018, Tim Wihl completed his PhD in Law, topic: "Aufhebungsrechte. Form, temporality and equality of fundamental and human rights ", summa cum laude. The study, supported by a scholarship of the Studienstiftung, attempts to conceptualise the legal comparison in the field of fundamental and human rights by means of an independent typology (1.) of the forms of fundamental rights, understood as their varying determinacy, (2.) the temporally structured contents and (3.) the stages of rights-constitutive equality. The analysis is in a Hegelian tradition in a broader sense. A publication is in preparation.

Tim Wihl studied political science and law in Cologne and Berlin (scholarship of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and passed the first as well as the second state exam in law.

He is associated with the Centre Marc Bloch Berlin and a member of the founding group of the German Chapter of the International Society for Constitutional Law.
