Habilitation Candidate

Dr. Melanie Müller is an external habilitation candidate under Prof. Dr. Lena Partzsch. She works as a researcher with a focus on South Africa/Southern Africa at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) in Berlin. She also leads the SWP component of the "Sustainable Supply Chains Research Network", which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Melanie Müller conducts research and publishes on political and socio-economic developments in South Africa/Southern Africa as well as on resource governance, geopolitics and sustainability in commodity supply chains.

Before joining SWP in 2017, she worked as a research assistant and lecturer at Freie Universität Berlin and as a freelance social scientist with a focus on environmental and resource governance. She completed her PhD at the FU Berlin in 2016. Between 2013 and 2015, she was a visiting scholar at the Center for Technology and Society (ZTG) at the Technical University of Berlin.
