Costs and Funding
There are no course fees for the Masters program "Sociology – European Societies". Students will only pay a fee (Semestergebühren) of currently €311,59 per semester. This includes administration fees for (re)registration, a social service contribution to the German Studentenwerk, a contribution to the student union and costs for a student ticket for the tariff zones ABC (Greater Berlin). Further information can be found here: Study Fees.
The Institute of Sociology does not offer financial support for student travel or conference participation. However, students and alumni of Freie Universität Berlin can apply for travel and conference funding through the Ernst-Reuter-Gesellschaft e.V., an association closely affiliated with Freie Universität.
The Ernst-Reuter-Gesellschaft offers funding opportunities for students and recent graduates who plan to attend conferences, academic workshops, or research-related events. Funding typically covers travel or conference-related expenses.
Please note: The information on their website is currently only available in German:
