International Recognition: Prof. Christian von Sikorski Appointed Associate Editor of Leading U.S. Journal

News from Jan 06, 2026

Prof. Dr. Christian von Sikorski (Media Effects Research Unit) has been appointed Associate Editor of the renowned academic journal Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly (JMCQ), the flagship journal of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). The two-year term begins on January 1, 2026, and runs through December 31, 2027.

With this appointment, the journal expands its editorial team for the first time in its more than 100-year history to include an Associate Editor based at a university outside the United States. Prof. von Sikorski will oversee submissions in the areas of quantitative communication research, experimental and survey-based methods, as well as AI-driven and computational approaches, with a particular focus on journalism and political communication research.

This appointment once again highlights the international visibility of the Media Effects Research Unit and the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, as well as their contribution to advancing innovative communication research.
