The project follows the Youth Election Study 2019, which surveyed young people in Brandenburg and Saxony after the state elections, and continues this with a new survey of participants in Brandenburg and Saxony in the wake of the 2021 federal elections. In addition, another register-based survey will be conducted in Berlin at the same time. In the federal state of Berlin, state and district elections, as well as a referendum, will be held at the same time as the federal election. The voting age for the district elections is 16. The starting point of the project is the debate about lowering the voting age from 18 to 16, which is controversially debated in public and academia. The research project is therefore comprehensively dedicated to the political attitudes and political behavior of young people.
