Principal Investigator:
Term:
May 01, 2024 — Mar 31, 2025

This project aims to intensify cooperation between the Institute for Sociology at the FU Berlin and the Demographic Studies Division of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, both in research and teaching. The research collaboration focuses on the question of how the increasing heterogeneity of family structures - both in terms of living arrangements and differences in origin - affects the values and norms of family members. Attitudes towards social justice and gender roles will be a particular focus. The collaboration aims at joint publications as well as the development of new joint research projects. In the area of teaching, joint courses will be designed and organized at both locations to provide an understanding of the basic characteristics of the social structure and the dynamics of societal developments in Germany and Israel. The project is funded by the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) (joint seed funding).
